Most Indian cities are a one-industry story. Hyderabad is two, running at once. There's the HITEC City and Financial District corridor — one of the country's fastest-growing IT and GCC hubs — and then there's Genome Valley, Asia's largest life sciences cluster. That combination makes Hyderabad one of the more interesting markets we work, because you can staff a data-engineering team and a pharmacovigilance team in the same city, which almost nowhere else in India allows.
Here's the read for 2026.
On the numbers in this piece
The pay bands and expansion figures below are compiled from public 2026 reporting (Taggd, GCC-focused trackers, company announcements), not a proprietary AxureOne survey. They're directional — meant to calibrate expectations, not to quote in a negotiation.
Two economies, one talent market
On the technology side, Hyderabad's demand looks like the national high-skill map — AI, data science, cloud, DevOps, cybersecurity — plus a heavy layer of data-analyst and Power BI roles. What makes it distinct is the GCC surge behind that demand, and it is not theoretical. In 2026 alone the city saw Sanofi scale its GCC past 4,500 people, Eli Lilly investment tied to roughly 1,500 roles, The Hartford stand up an India technology centre targeting about 1,200 jobs, and L'Oréal announce a first-of-its-kind Beauty-Tech GCC. That's named, sustained expansion.
On the life-sciences side sits Genome Valley, with 800+ pharma and biotech companies and genuine depth in QA, R&D, regulatory affairs, pharmacovigilance, clinical research, and production. For those careers, Hyderabad offers progression that few Indian cities can.

The number worth internalising: senior tech and GCC roles reportedly pay around 10–15% below Bengaluru, but Hyderabad's lower cost of living frequently makes it the best real-income deal of any Indian metro. On a take-home-and-rent basis, a slightly smaller Hyderabad offer can beat a bigger Bengaluru one — which is exactly the comparison candidates should run before deciding.
For candidates: run the real-income maths
Making the most of a Hyderabad search
0 of 5 checkedBecause the real-income comparison is the whole game here, our take-home salary calculator and offer-comparison calculator are worth running before you accept anything.
For employers: ride the surge, but hire for the stage
The short version
Hyderabad gives you two deep talent markets in one city — a surging tech-and-GCC corridor and Asia's largest life-sciences cluster — often at the best real income of any Indian metro. Candidates win by picking their economy and running the take-home-versus-cost maths; employers win by leading with that real-income advantage and hiring for the stage their centre is actually at. Of India's big cities, it's the one where "cheaper" genuinely doesn't mean "lesser."
