Gandhinagar & GIFT City · Gujarat

Recruitment agency for Gandhinagar & GIFT City

Gandhinagar is Gujarat's planned state capital, and it now contains India's only operational International Financial Services Centre. That combination gives it a hiring profile no other city in the state has.

The growth is documented rather than promised. As of March 2026, IFSCA had issued 1,147 final licences, registrations and authorisations at GIFT City — up from 1,048 three months earlier, a net gain of 99 licensed entities in a single quarter, spread across banking, funds, insurance, leasing, capital markets and fintech.

Alongside that sits an older employment base most people forget when they hear 'GIFT City': the state secretariat and capital administration, and an unusually dense academic corridor spanning IIT Gandhinagar, GNLU, the National Forensic Sciences University, DA-IICT and PDEU.

What hires here

The sectors actually doing the hiring in Gandhinagar & GIFT City.

IFSC banking

37 registered IFSC Banking Units with 35 operational as of March 2026, split roughly evenly between foreign and domestic banks. GIFT City reports cumulative banking transactions above USD 1,508 billion and total banking assets over USD 100 billion as of September 2025.

Fund management

The fastest-growing category by absolute count: 217 Fund Management Entities and 360 AIF schemes as of March 2026, up from 202 and 327 a quarter earlier, with cumulative non-retail commitments of USD 39.09 billion. Fund operations, compliance, investor relations and dedicated Key Managerial Personnel.

Aircraft & ship leasing

35 aircraft leasing and 36 ship leasing entities, with 373 aviation assets on lease — 203 aircraft, 84 engines, 85 APUs — and 37 ships. Ship leasing registrations grew about 24% in a single quarter, making this the least-served talent market on the campus.

Insurance & reinsurance

36 IFSC Insurance Offices, up sharply from 24 the previous quarter, plus 34 intermediary offices. Underwriting, reinsurance placement, actuarial and claims roles that did not exist in Gujarat five years ago.

GCCs, TechFin & ancillary services

120 registered TechFin and Ancillary Service providers, 4 formally registered Global In-House Centres and 10 BATF providers doing bookkeeping, accounting, taxation and financial-crime compliance for offshore clients. Note the constraint: a registered GIC may serve only non-resident entities within its own group, in freely convertible foreign currency.

Bullion & capital markets

The India International Bullion Exchange runs 214 qualified jewellers and 23 intermediaries, and gained 337 India–UAE CEPA tariff-rate-quota holders in one quarter — a category with zero participants for the previous year. Capital markets add 92 broker dealers, 24 clearing members and 7 custodians.

Where it happens

The corridors and estates that matter.

  • GIFT City SEZ261 of GIFT City's 886 acres. Every IFSCA-regulated entity — banks, fund managers, insurers, lessors, GICs — must sit inside this boundary, which makes it the single most concentrated finance-hiring square mile in western India.
  • GIFT City DTAThe remaining acreage, for India-facing operations under an ordinary domestic regime — TCS, Oracle, Infibeam, SIDBI, MCX and STPI among them. Different regulator, different contracts, different hiring profile from the SEZ side.
  • InfocityGandhinagar's established IT park area, with its own Metro Yellow Line station since September 2024. The city's pre-IFSC technology employment base.
  • The Sachivalaya sector gridSectors 1 to 30 — the planned capital, with Metro stations at Sector-1, Sector-10A, Sachivalaya, Sector-16, Sector-24 and Mahatma Mandir mapping the government-employment spine.
  • Randesan, Raysan & the GNLU corridorThree consecutive Metro stops carrying the PDEU and GNLU campuses, where the Violet Line branches toward GIFT City. The graduate-supply stretch.
  • Kudasan, Sargasan & SughadThe practical residential catchment on the Ahmedabad–Gandhinagar corridor for staff who do not live on the GIFT campus. Worth knowing when you set a relocation allowance.

What it pays, and what it takes

Hiring in Gandhinagar & GIFT City, honestly.

Pay, directionally

  • There is no credible public role-level salary dataset for GIFT City IFSC roles, and anyone quoting you precise bands is extrapolating. We would rather say that than print a number we cannot stand behind.
  • The only Gandhinagar figures with a defensible sample come from Indeed India as of July 2026: software engineer around ₹6,89,195 a year from 55 reports, and accountant around ₹27,213 a month from 70 reports. Directional, self-reported.
  • For the 'why not Bengaluru' conversation, the same source puts software engineer at roughly ₹6,40,191 in Ahmedabad, ₹8,26,984 in Mumbai and ₹10,42,959 in Bengaluru — so Gandhinagar prints marginally above Ahmedabad and materially below the metros. Sample sizes differ by an order of magnitude, so treat it as shape, not scale.
  • Finance-specific Gandhinagar samples on the public aggregators run to two, three or four responses per role. That is not a market rate, and we will not present it as one. No source we could verify quantifies an 'IFSC premium' at all.

Directional bands compiled from the public sources listed below — not an AxureOne survey. Treat them as a starting point, never a quote.

What actually decides a hire here

  • IFSCA enforces staffing as a compliance obligation, not a nice-to-have. In the January–March 2026 quarter alone it issued show-cause notices to four Fund Management Entities for failing to appoint dedicated Key Managerial Personnel, to two finance companies for failure to deploy personnel, and orders against two capital market intermediaries for manpower not commensurate with business.
  • The qualification bar for senior compliance roles just moved, and it widens your pool. Amendments to the IFSCA Capital Market Intermediaries Regulations now recognise postgraduate FinTech and STEM qualifications for Principal Officer and Compliance Officer eligibility, and cut the experience requirement for graduate-degree candidates from ten years to five.
  • Talent is imported from the Ahmedabad corridor, and the flow is measured. GIFT City's own LinkedIn-sourced talent report counts 3.9 million-plus members in Gujarat with Ahmedabad alone at 1.7 million, a pool of 86,000-plus software engineers and 71,000-plus finance professionals, and notes that bordering states supply 36% of talent migration into the state — Maharashtra alone 22%.
  • The commute argument is genuinely stronger than it was two years ago, and it is datable. The Metro Violet Line connecting GNLU, PDEU and GIFT City opened in September 2024, and Phase 2 completed on 11 January 2026. This is now a metro-connected pitch rather than a car-only one.
  • Model the incentive stack before you set headcount budgets. Gujarat's GCC Policy 2025-30 offers an employment generation incentive of 50% of one month's CTC — capped at ₹50,000 per male and ₹60,000 per female hire, once per individual for life — plus EPF reimbursement of 100% for female and 75% for male employees over five years. Eligibility requires a minimum of 50 people on payroll.
