Sanand & Dholera · Gujarat
Recruitment agency for Sanand & Dholera
Sanand is the only taluka in India where three commercial semiconductor assembly-and-test plants went live inside a single twelve-month window — Micron in February 2026, Kaynes Semicon in March, CG Semi in July — while Tata Electronics' wafer fab at Dholera is still under construction.
That distinction governs everything about hiring here. The belt is recruiting two different things at once: production and process roles for plants already running, and project, procurement, facilities and construction roles for plants that are not.
Underneath it sits a mature automotive and engineering base that predates the chip story by fifteen years — Tata Motors, Bosch Rexroth, Nestlé, Colgate-Palmolive — plus pharma and engineering estates along the Changodar and Bavla corridor. The commercial reality for employers is that Gujarat's semiconductor-specific skill pool is thin and several very well-funded buyers are drawing from it simultaneously.
What hires here
The sectors actually doing the hiring in Sanand & Dholera.
Semiconductor ATMP / OSAT — operational
Three plants are in commercial production: Micron's assembly, test and packaging facility, Kaynes Semicon's intelligent power module OSAT, and CG Semi. These hire packaging engineering, test engineering, reliability, failure analysis, product engineering, manufacturing operations and quality.
Semiconductor fab — under construction
Tata Electronics' Dholera fab, with Taiwan's Powerchip, is a ₹91,000 crore project for up to 50,000 wafer starts a month. It is not producing. Near-term hiring is construction, EPC, tool install, facilities, ultra-high-purity piping and welding, EHS, procurement and process setup — not fab-floor operations.
Automotive & EV
Tata Motors runs its 2010 Sanand plant plus the 460-acre former Ford vehicle plant acquired in January 2023, building Tiago, Tigor and Punch and their EV variants. Ford retains and operates a Sanand engine plant producing for export. Assembly, paint, weld, press, powertrain, quality and supplier quality.
Industrial engineering & FMCG
Bosch Rexroth operates on the Sanand–Viramgam highway; Nestlé India opened its ninth Indian factory here in 2021 and has since added Maggi and Munch lines; Colgate-Palmolive runs a Sanand plant. This is the belt's stable, non-cyclical hiring base — production supervision, maintenance, utilities, EHS and QA.
Construction, facilities & infrastructure
A ramp-up phase with a visible end date. Roughly 1,500 residential units are being enabled at Dholera, Tata Power's 300 MW solar plant is commissioned, and the 109 km Ahmedabad–Dholera expressway opened on 31 March 2026. Project management, civil, MEP, cleanroom construction, HSE and facilities roles that will taper as plants commission.
Where it happens
The corridors and estates that matter.
- Sanand GIDCRoughly 24–27 km from Ahmedabad by road and the belt's core — all three operational semiconductor plants alongside Tata Motors, Bosch Rexroth, Nestlé and Colgate-Palmolive. Close enough that Ahmedabad-resident candidates are genuinely addressable.
- Dholera SIRA greenfield Special Investment Region about 100 km south under the Delhi–Mumbai Industrial Corridor. Site of the Tata Electronics fab under construction, Tata Power's 300 MW solar plant, and the Cabinet-approved Crystal Matrix compound-semiconductor project.
- ChangodarAn established engineering, chemicals, packaging, plastics and pharma cluster on the Ahmedabad–Bavla highway. The belt's nearest deep pool of experienced plant maintenance and QA staff — and where most adjacent-industry conversions come from.
- BavlaA GIDC estate further along the same corridor, pharma-weighted and part of the wider Ahmedabad pharmaceutical cluster.
- Hansalpur & the Sanand–Viramgam corridorSuzuki Motor Gujarat's plant, where e Vitara EV production began in August 2025 alongside local lithium-ion cell manufacture. Adjacent to rather than inside the belt, but competing for the same automotive talent.

What it pays, and what it takes
Hiring in Sanand & Dholera, honestly.
Pay, directionally
- No Sanand- or Dholera-specific salary survey exists publicly. The only attributable bands we found are national semiconductor benchmarks from Peepal Consulting's India Semiconductor Talent Intelligence Report 2025–26, which labels its own figures as estimates with low-to-moderate confidence. We publish them as that, or not at all.
- On those national figures, OSAT and ATMP roles — the families the three live Sanand plants hire into — run directionally around ₹10–15 lakh for packaging and test engineers at nought to two years, ₹18–28 lakh at three to seven, and ₹30–46 lakh at eight to twelve.
- Ahmedabad sits at or slightly below the national semiconductor median in the same report — roughly −3% to +4%, against Bengaluru at +12–18% and Hyderabad at +10–16%. The premium is in the skill, not the postcode, and the report flags local compensation inflation as rising.
- Where scarcity premiums exist they attach to specific capabilities rather than to seniority — the same report estimates roughly +28% for yield optimisation and +22% for advanced packaging, strongest in the eight-to-twenty-year bands. Direction of travel, not a pay scale.
Directional bands compiled from the public sources listed below — not an AxureOne survey. Treat them as a starting point, never a quote.
What actually decides a hire here
- The specialist pool is genuinely tiny, and the training pipeline is measured in dozens. India's first structured ultra-high-purity welding programme for semiconductors, run at ITI Dholera with the Tata Indian Institute of Skills and the Gujarat government, graduated a first batch of sixteen students in 2026. Sixteen people is the honest scale of cleanroom-grade specialist supply for this belt today.
- Near-term Dholera roles are project roles, not fab-floor roles. Capex is committed now; broad fab-floor hiring is years out. An employer planning Dholera headcount for 2026–27 is hiring construction, EPC, tool install and facilities — volume operations hiring follows commissioning.
- Process and yield roles are among the hardest closures in the country and Gujarat is where the demand sits. Published estimates put Gujarat process engineering at three to five years' experience at 16–26 weeks to close, and yield engineering at six to nine years at 20–30 weeks. The six-to-fourteen-year band is the national bottleneck.
- Three well-funded buyers are drawing from the same shallow bench, so importing talent is structural rather than optional. Relocation from Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Chennai, and repatriation from Taiwan, Malaysia and Singapore, should be in the plan from day one — not the fallback after a local search fails.
- Commute and residence shape the offer, and Sanand and Dholera are not the same problem. Sanand is a viable daily commute from Ahmedabad with state bus services on the route. Dholera is roughly 100 km out, which is why residential units are being built there; the expressway that opened in March 2026 cuts the drive substantially, but site accommodation is still standard for construction-phase roles.
